EDGAR MIRAKU (11 Smack)
      

Edgar has coached volleyball for many years and at multiple levels including high school, club, college, as well as international level. Edgar is currently Head Coach  for USA Volleyball Men’s National Sitting Team. Previously he served as an assistant for five years. Throughout his volleyball career Edgar is mostly proud of his tenure with the National Team where he has the honor and opportunity to represent USA abroad in multiple international competitions including World Championships in Netherlands (2006) and Para Pan-American Games in Brazil (2007).

Previously, Edgar spent five years coaching and assisting former UCO head coach Mark Herrin at his Alma matter – University of Central Oklahoma. While at UCO in addition to being involved with coaching and recruitment process, Edgar also assisted with clinics and camps.

In his involvement with junior volleyball Edgar has coached for several clubs and different age groups where he has won several Regional Championships and multiple trips to JO. During 2008-09 season his OP2 16-1 team finished third in the nation at Junior Olympics in Miami, FL, making this the best finish of any Peak team and second highest of any teams from our Region. During 2002-03 season his 17’s team captured both Mid-East National Qualifier and Crossroads National Qualifier, being the first Oklahoma team to win two National Qualifiers in the same season.  In 2003 Edgar was the recipient of “Meritorious Service Award” issued by USA Volleyball Association.

In his five years at the reigns of Edmond Memorial HS, he has led the Bulldogs to three State Championships (2005, 2007 & 2009), including one on his first year after a 19 year drought. Edgar has completed his CAP II accreditation and is currently working toward CAP III. He has served as a Board Member of the Oklahoma Region Volleyball Association since 2002 and is current Board Member for OP2. Before he got involved into coaching Edgar played professionally in his native Albania as well as Macedonia. In addition he was part of Junior Albanian National team for three years. Edgar is married to Amy and they have two children: Abiana (6) and Arden (4).
